This spring, I’m organising three yoga hikes at Soesterduinen, The Netherlands.
Did you know that both yoga and nature positively affect your health and wellbeing? Research shows that brain activity calms down when you go outdoors into a natural environment. Similarly, yoga practice reduces stress, with a beneficial effect on body and mind. People who regularly step onto their mats experience less stress, depression and anxiety and are more resilient to disease. And just like yoga, walking is associated with a longer life expectancy. Imagine the combined effect of yoga and hiking in nature – it must be magic!
Apart from these scientific findings, practicing yoga outside in fresh air is just one of the most delightful things to do.
Each walk will start with a short meditation to tune inward and into the moment. Then we will take a beautiful route in the forest. Halfway, we will stop at the vast sands of the Soesterduinen for a standing yoga flow – we’ll keep it simple, no mats or props needed. Depending on the wishes of the group, we will continue our walk in silence to experience the moment to the fullest.
Afterwards, we will have time to enjoy a cup of tea together.
